FIRE EXIT AND PLAN

a tenants guide

Fire Hose

As a residential building, the guidelines are 'STAY PUT' in the event of a fire within the communal areas, call 999 if it is safe to do so and awaiy instruction from the fire service.

Should you have a fire within your flat, you should evacuate immediately and call 999 if it is safe to do so.  You should never attempt to retrieve belongings from the flat.  The building follows the 'stay in apartment policy' which means there is no designated area outside to commune in the event of fire, should you exit the building, find a safe place to wait.

The building does not have the kind of cladding that has current cause for concern with fire regulations.

FIRE EXIT AND PLAN

DETECTING A FIRE WHILE IN COMMUNAL AREAS

Should you be in a communal area when you detect fire you should raise the alarm by calling 999 - but only if it is safe to do so.  Never attempt to rescue items left in your apartment.

You then escape the building either by the rear stair case or front of the building.

DETECTING A FIRE WHEN IN YOUR APARTMENT

You should evacuate your apartment immediately of all occupants, do not attempt to take belongings with you.  Once safe, raise the alarm by calling 999.

REAR FIRE EXIT

The rear fire exit door should be kept closed at all times and only used in the event of an emergency.  Leaving the door open can leave it open for misuse and entry by unauthorised personnel.

Please note, the rear stair well cannot be accessed from the ground floor, it is only accessed from the 1st - 4th floors.  Exit from the ground floor in the event of fire can be via windows or main entrance.

IN APARTMENT WHEN FIRE IN COMMUNAL AREA

This is where you should 'STAY PUT'.  If if it safe to do so, raise the alarm by calling 999.  Keep your front door closed and await instruction from the Fire Service.
