KITCHEN

a tenants guide

Washing Dishes

Here is a guide to all your appliances and elements of your kitchen.  You are responsible for keeping all items clean and in good working order.  Any damage due to misuse or accidental damage is the tenants responsibility, therefore, we would encourage you to read the information provided in full to avoid charges or deductions from your deposit.

For safety, we recommend that you always turn off, or unplug all appliances when not in use, especially when leaving the apartment for any period.  Fridge freezers should only be turned off if empty, with the door left in the open position.

APPLIANCES

FRIDGE FREEZER

Your fridge freezer is a built in fridge freezer.  The temperature is controlled from the panel inside the fridge, generally on the righthand side; the on/off button is on the underside.  Ensure that you close correctly - do not slam as this can push the unit away from the built in cupboard door and cause it to defrost  - maintenance due to misuse will be chargeable.

OVEN

Your oven should have received a full clean before moving in - should your oven require a professional clean when you vacate this will be deducted from your deposit.

HOB

This is a halogen hob with button controls.  Marks can be removed using a ceramic cleaning tool.

EXTRACTOR FAN

The extractor fan should be used at all times when cooking to avoid condensation build up within the flat and bad smells.  The filter should be replaced by the tenant when spent.

WASHING MACHINE

Your washing machine is a built in washer dryer.  Please follow the instructions for operation.  We would also recommend that you regularly run a 'C' programme as this purges the machine of any excess water and avoids bad smells and inefficient use.

ALARMS

It is the responsibility of the tenant to test the alarms regularly and ensure they are kept clean - as per the terms of your tenancy agreement.  The smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm are wired in, however, they do have a back up battery.  When the battery is spent, which will happen over time even if it has not been used, it needs changing immediately.  The battery in all alarms is a 9v square type battery - changing the battery does not disable the machine and is the tenants responsibility.

SINK AND TAPS

The sink should be kept clean at all times, along with the taps, in order to avoid limescale build up.  This is the tenant responsibility and any damage or cleaning required upon exit will be deductible from your deposit, therefore, we would recommend that you regularly clean them.

WORK TOPS AND CUPBOARDS

The work tops and cupboards should be kept clean at all times to avoid staining.  Please use responsibly as any damage due to misuse or staining will be deductible from your deposit.
